Hey, it’s Kelsey

Here I am visiting Google Light Fields at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies in October, 2018.

Kelsey Hess is a writer.

She is also interested in emerging technology, specifically the intersection between high-tech and high-touch entertainment. That’s why she is planning the lecture series for Zócalo Public Square, partnering with the largest cultural institutions to offer Los Angelenos democratized, thought-provoking things to go do—that’s high-touch.

Last year, Kelsey was working in Virtual Reality production at the Technicolor Experience Center—that’s high-tech.

Kelsey’s interest in writing is bigger than any genre or medium: she is a journalist, creative writer, virtual reality documentary filmmaker and (newly) an interactive fiction developer on Twine.

If you’ve heard things like “nonlinear”, “choose-your-own-adventure” or “branching narrative,” you’re on the right track. She is obsessed with the potential of simulation games like this one, and wishes every day that she’d had the idea first. So now she’s trying to become a writer for text-based video games because, well, the heart wants what it wants.

I’ll be uploading my Twine stories to the website soon, but in the meantime, please drop me a line if you’d like to get in touch.

With love,

Kelsey A. Hess
